Conduct Charter

Estimated reading: 4 minutes 109 views

This policy is how we expect players, crew and game team to behave in and around our game. These rules apply to all in-person events through to our online spaces (including, but not limited to, our discord & facebook).

You must not:

Discriminate against another attendee at our events or on our social platforms, on any grounds, for example:

  • Age
  • Body type or physical appearance
  • Gender or sex
  • Nationality
  • Sexuality
  • Ethnicity
  • Religion

Drift LARP is a gender-neutral setting. There are no set societal norms for any gender within any of the Federations communities. Whilst discrimination may be explored in our game, it should never be for real world characteristics.

You also, must not:

  • Sexually or physically harass an attendee, either IC or OC.
  • Use illegal substances.
  • Get drunk to the point where you are not in control of your actions or fight while drunk.
  • Smoke/Vape in confined areas: please smoke away from groups who do not consent.
  • Film any part of our events without explicit permission from the event organisers.
  • Photograph participants who have indicated that they do not wish to be photographed.
  • Remove or interfere with other attendees’ personal belongings (please see our rules on In Character Theft).

Consequences

If you are found to be in breach of this policy, we can:

  • Offer you a warning or discuss the situation with you
  • Temporarily ban you from attending our events – this will result in clear guidance on what we would expect for you to return to our games
  • Permanently ban you from attending our events
  • Ask you to leave our event (and escort you off site)
  • Temporarily limit your usage of our online spaces – this will result in clear guidance on what we would expect for you to return to our games
  • Permanently remove you from our online spaces
  • Report you to the police in more serious cases

If you see something that you deem to be uncomfortable or detrimental to yourself or  another person’s wellbeing, do not hesitate to warn a referee, or if you think it is safe to do  so, ask the attendee if they are ok out of character.

Overall Wellbeing at the Event

We run an intense system, and the plot will challenge you physically and emotionally. Whilst we will do as much as reasonably possible to support players and crew wellbeing, this must be balanced with our ability to run an enjoyable, high quality and high immersion game.

  • All players and crew are responsible for their own wellbeing – this includes bringing the correct equipment for sleeping, enough layers to stay warm, food and water to remain fed and hydrated, and medication (as well as taking these on time).
  • If an attendee feels that they need to take some time out, we encourage you to do so, and return to the game when ready. We are limiting where you should go in the event of this to ensure that we keep you safe whilst at the same time allowing the game to continue for everyone else. We ask that all players who do this only go to the following places:
    • Their own tent/cabin
    • Their group tent/space
    • Their car/vehicle

Outside of Events

We have an active Discord and Facebook Group as community spaces for you to talk to each other and ask our game team questions. We expect:

  • Players to follow our clear Conduct Guidelines in these spaces
  • Do not private message our game team individually – use the facebook group to ask questions, or the “Ask The Game Team” channel on Discord. You can also email us: info@driftlarp.co.uk
  • Give our Game Team time to respond to queries – all of our team have other commitments. If you ask a question on the Discord or via Email, it’s fair to give them time to get back to you.
