Rebuilding the Scene

| Characters with the Rebuilding the Scene skill are excellent investigators, able to intuit things about an event in their location with only a few clues. After collecting three pieces of evidence from the local area, a character with the Rebuilding the Scene skill may present a theory about events that happened in this location to a referee, who will indicate the accuracy of the theory, and provide additional information. Note that this skill is applicable to specific areas relating to plot or other game interactions – referees may not be able to provide insight into other player actions in these areas. | |||
White Lie

| Characters with the White Lie skill can use their diplomacy skills to smooth over a situation that might otherwise become heated if the truth comes to light. Once per day, a character with the White Lie skill can compel listening NPCs to believe a lie. Use of this skill is indicated with the vocals ‘you’re not going to believe this…’. This skill may affect multiple NPCs if they are listening to you. This skill may not be used to convince a truth in contradiction to irrefutable evidence otherwise; for example, trying to convince an NPC that a character did not shoot someone, that the NPC witnessed first-hand. The lie should be convincing and believable. | |||
Repute

| Characters with the Repute skill can rely on their status, reputation or profession to give weight to another’s (or their own) claims. Characters with the Repute skill are well-respected in their chosen career. If a situation or conversation has turned sour, once per day you may choose to use the Repute skill in support of roleplay, to justify another’s claims, provide evidence or confirmation, or to appear trustworthy in a situation to an NPC. Use of the this skill is indicated with the vocals “I use my Repute skill to…”. | |||
Researcher

| Characters with the Researcher skill collect information much faster than other people, allowing them to collate information from libraries, maps, databases and written sources much more effectively. After performing suitable roleplay, characters with the Researcher skill may Ask a Ref for a summary of pertinent information from a source. | |||
Encryption

| Characters with this skill can identify and create encrypted information. Characters with the Encryption Skill can identify whether something has been encrypted, and if so, by which named cypher. In addition, characters have the ability to encrypt information based on a cypher known to the character and may develop their own encryption/cypher and choose who to share it with. | |||
Comms Usage

Upon examination of a document, a character with the False Documentation skill can determine the provenance of that document. Once per day, characters with this skill may Ask a Ref for information from available sources about a target; this might include possible whereabouts, known history, or contacts they might have. Characters with this skill also benefit from greater understanding of law enforcement methods and practices. | |||
Well-Connected

Envoy’s Insight

| Characters with the Envoy’s Insight skill are able to discern some of the nature or intent of others’ words. After being involved in, or listening to, a conversation for 5 minutes, characters with the Envoy’s Insight skill may ask an NPC for an insight into their conversation and receive a one word answer: e.g. sincere, dishonest, harmful. Use of this skill is denoted by “With Envoy’s Insight, what do I understand of your intentions?”. Note that this is an Out of Character mechanic. | |||
Read Between the Lines

| Characters with the Read Between the Lines skill have honed their Envoy’s Insight to be able to glean a greater understanding of the intention of others. After being involved in, or listening to, a conversation for 5 minutes, characters with Read Between the Lines may ask an NPC for a one word sentence of their actual intention. Use of this skill is denoted by “Reading Between the Lines, what do I understand of your intentions?”. Note that this is an Out of Character mechanic. | |||
Sweeten the Deal

| Characters with the Sweeten the Deal skill can leverage their connections for the benefit of themselves and others through trade. Once per day, a character can use the phrase “Sweeten the deal” to get a favourable trade from an NPC. Smuggler

Code Breaker

| Characters with the Code Breaker skill have the ability and expertise to break unknown encryption cyphers. After a few minutes of roleplay, characters with the Code Breaker skill are able to decrypt information, even if it is encrypted by a cypher they do not know. Having broken three pieces of information with the same cypher, a code breaker may learn that cypher. | |||
Academic Niche
