Solaris Industries

A manufacturing company at its core, Solaris Industries specialises in ship, equipment manufacturing, tool-smithing and basic medical equipment for the average workplace. Their origins in heavy industries underpin their core business beliefs of reliability and being the go-to for any workhorse piece of equipment.
Founded on the “Citadel of Creation” in the Alantris System, Solaris Industries has developed a reputation for being the only choice for equipment that will outlast generations. However some view them negatively for their clogging of the atmospheres of the neighbouring planets, due to the constant debris from their Angel Atmospheric Forges.
Solaris Industries were created as an answer to the many questions that came with mining in space and have subsequently been through many iterations, merges and acquisitions. The owner by the title “The Core” has remained in power for more years than many people care to remember, a stout individual, with a short enough temper to ignite one of their many forges.
However, to many, Solaris Industries is more than just manufacturing. It’s a philosophy, a religion even. To its artisans it’s not just a tool, it’s a pact between the maker and the user to guarantee that work will be done. Each creation is a blend of art and function, an elegant embrace of the ancient smithing traditions shown back on earth. But one thing will remain when all humanity falls, the tools Solaris Industries produce are timeless no matter the rise and fall of an empire.
Their leading advancements are as follows:
The Angel Atmospheric Forges
These forges are giant structures and a truly impressive spectacle. With cores that reach temperatures of white stars, their glow can be seen from miles away. Their process of spewing byproducts into space through a colossal chimney and conveyor system means that from afar, the Angel Atmospheric Forges appear to stretch to the heavens. This otherworldly spectacle has led to several less advanced civilisations to worship them as “gods”.
The Phoros Pattern Hammer
The Phoros Pattern Hammer is a tool to some and a weapon to many. Constructed from condensed [REDACTED] stabilised by a lattice work of several quantum alloys. This hammer can strike with the force of a nuclear bomb, by condensing the [REDACTED] if it forces it into a superdense material meaning that with every strike a material is exposed to ungodly amounts of solar radiation. This makes it great for spot welding and punching holes in armour or hull plating.
The Array Shirt
A marvel of nano tech, a shirt devised from filament using plasma and nanomachines that stitch together material when exposed, the Array Shirt is the wearable version of its bigger brother the Weave Array. Popular amongst those in galactic heavy industries for its endurance and repairable qualities, it allows for micro-self analysis of damage to it and then the recovery of said material for self-repair.
Subsidiary – Caldive Mining Services

Caldive is a corporation that specialises in underwater mining, underground engineering and research for the construction of new bases and colonial outposts. Caldive has propelled numerous advancements in mining technologies for extreme environments and has a comfortable monopoly on materials and minerals extraction services, underwater construction and infrastructure enhancements for fledgling colonies. Often being amongst the first to arrive on newly-established colonies, Caldive conveniently manage to insert themselves into governance structures and colony control.
Caldive’s unique capability to provide undersea pipelines and cables, offshore and floating energy generation technologies, scientific exploration submersibles, geologic and marine surveys and underground reservoir construction means they have deep links with education institutions across several systems. They frequently fund fabrication and materials research and also recruit young upstarts from these institutions straight into their worker base, flogging off discoveries and R&D projects to the highest bidder.
Caldive’s development of many kinds of proprietary technologies include their most famous invention, the Bionetic Gill Implant, a bio-enhanced cybernetic that allows employees to breathe both underwater and on land. Their Hab-Rig is the technological life support system of choice for harsh environments.
Subsidiary – Argo Heavy Industries

Argo Heavy Industries were a smaller but specialist ship-building outfit that focused on the construction of transporters, fuelling ships, solar yachts and repair vessels. Argo Heavy Industries were testing next-generation sub-lightspeed systems when they were launched into the limelight due to the invention of the Drift Drive by Atticus Kade, a junior propulsion engineer who stole one of their experimental craft and subsequently disappeared.
Argo Heavy Industries successfully managed to retrieve enough of Kade’s documentation to develop further versions of the Drift Drive, popularising long-distance interstellar travel, before they were eventually subsumed into Solaris Industries through various acquisitions.
