The Galactic Aid Front operates as an independent aid organisation that provides medical aid to civilisations affected by conflict and exploitation. The GAF are ideologically independent and do not distinguish between Federation, UIC, Kalithin Dominion or any other faction. Their purpose is to provide medical care in the farthest reaches of the galaxy, on the remotest space stations and on distant colonies where the megacorporations have less reach. 

The GAF is of Nocturni origin with its roots coming from the founding of the Federation itself, as the GAF was initially formed to provide aid to Muraak after the Hundred-Cycle Siege. 

Many members of the GAF are heavily armed due to being posted into active conflict zones and many combat medics number amongst its ranks alongside specialist trauma doctors, epidemiologists, neurologists and pharmacologists. The GAF’s presence behind the front lines of interstellar conflicts means that they require a significant security detail. The GAF will not tolerate attempts on the lives of their staff and will extinguish any threat by any means necessary. 

In the corners of remote systems, the GAF is often the only source of medical care. They have come under recent scrutiny due to their tactics of claiming costs from the descendents of deceased patients and rumoured movement towards an upfront payment care model.
