Federation Timeline
Date notation:
BD = Before Drift
PD = Post Drift
Dates are given in Year post-Drift.month e.g. 57.06 PD is 57 cycles, 6 months Post Drift.
~200,000 BD |
Modern Homo sapiens appear in the African continent. |
~4,500 BD |
A failed Ka’hetian colony ship crashes in modern-day Egypt. The survivors assimilate into early human society, teaching written language, art and directing construction of the Great Pyramids to amplify locating signal beacons. |
213 BD |
The first human-built objects, Voyager I and II, leave the Sol system for interstellar space. |
44 BD |
Four Ka’hetian colony ships arrive in the Sol system, drawn by the signal beacons activated 4500 cycles earlier. The Ka’hetian assimilation into humanity is revealed, setting off a chain of events which results in The Fracture of Sol. |
0 Cycles PD |
Atticus Kade demonstrates the first working prototype of the drift drive, but a malfunction prevents de-activation, and Kade never makes the return voyage. His designs are reverse-engineered, sparking the first generation of Drift drives, offering speeds up to 100C. |
5.04 PD |
The Fracture of Sol concludes, with victory of the Coalition of Allied Nations over the Crimson Accord. |
7.02 PD |
The remnants of the Crimson Accord leave the Sol system in a generation ship. |
32.11 PD |
Humanity encounters the Araksa on their homeworld of Arak, and signs the Triarch Accords, a mutual defence pact between Humanity, the Araksa and the Ka’hetians. The Triarch cycle date-system is established with reference to the creation of Kade’s Drift Drive, and the yearly cycles of the Earth around Sol. |
57.06 PD |
The Second Generation Drift Drive is invented, offering speeds up to 1000C. This signifies the start of The Golden Age as the Triarch pioneers the outer reaches uninhibited for the next eighty cycles. |
66.02 PD |
The Triarch nations encounter the Nocturni, living under the surface of the planet Nocturne. Shortly after, the Nocturni join the the Triarch, forming the Interim Federation of Core Worlds, granting them the means to leave the planet for the first time in generations. |
71.05 PD |
Ka’hetian Soren Halvik produces the first general complete synthetic intelligence, later referred to as first generation synthetic life. In the following years, Soren’s synthetics are primarily used to lay the foundations of the Golden Age, building space stations, outposts and other facilities in the dangerous fringes of the galaxy. |
112.03 PD |
Soren Halvik produces second generation synthetics, which externally resemble the various species of the Triarch nations and other encountered species. Despite this, they are continually pressed to work in the most inhospitable environments to serve the federation. |
131.11 PD |
The Interim Federation make first contact with the Kalithin Dominion, laying siege to the planet Muraak, in what would later be referred to as the Hundred Cycle Siege. |
134.02 PD |
Attempts at diplomatic intervention in the siege of Muraak fail, and the Kalithin Dominion declares open war on the Interim Federation. |
135.10 PD |
The Interim Federation of Core Worlds breaks the Hundred Cycle Siege, but at enormous cost. The Muraak sign the federation accords, and the Federation of Core Worlds is formed. |
136.05 PD |
Soren Halvik proposes the construction of a military fleet of synthetics to fight the war against the Dominion, in return for the recognition of synthetics as a member of the federation. The proposal is rejected by the federation. |
140.07 PD |
After massive losses, at the Battle of Orison’s Belt and the Fall of Ferros Arcadia, the Federation accepts Soren Halvik’s proposal for the creation of a synthetic fleet. |
148.02 PD |
The Synthetic fleet achieves full self-autonomy, capable of replication and rebuilding without permanent Federation facilities. |
150.01 PD |
The federation claims its first major campaign successes in The Dominion Conflict, in Operation Iron Horizon and the encirclement of Carith IV. Despite these successes, the Federation continues to draw heavily on its resources to maintain war-footing. |
162.05 PD |
Soren Halvik’s synthetics design the third generation drift drive, providing major tactical advantages to federation fleets. |
164.06 PD |
After taking unsustainable losses in the Helios Counter-offensive, the Dominion is forced to the negotiating table. The dominion withdraws from federation space, and signs a non-aggression pact, bringing an end to the Dominion war. |
165.02 PD |
Soren Halvik demands equal membership in the Federation for synthetics as promised in return for their participation in the Dominion war. |
169.05 PD |
Following cycles of petitioning, the federation rejects the membership application of the synthetics, but offers improved conditions for synthetics, including freedom to travel. |
177.00 PD |
Dissent amongst some outer colonies begins to grow, rallied against Federation over-reach in these sectors. Demonstrations are swiftly and ruthlessly suppressed by Federation security services. Despite this, the Federation continues to enjoy the continuation of the Golden Age, exploring and developing new worlds. |
180.03 PD |
Soren Halvik produces third generation synthetics, which are indistinguishable from the member species of the Federation of Core Worlds. Synthetics go on to assimilate into Federation society, occupying key corporate and governmental roles – some publicly, some in secrecy. |
217.07 PD |
The secretive Federation Project ‘Eclipse’ is exposed. The project involved the creation of second generation synthetics with neural inhibitors, created for war-fighting and other dangerous purposes in the continued expansion of the outer colonies. Soren Halvik and the third generation synthetics are outraged, and the synthetic fleet is re-amassed. |
217.08 PD |
Anti-federation protests break-out against the Federation amongst the outer colonies. Federation response of the deployment of security Arbitrators, worsens political tensions, galvanising political stances of some colonies into open rebellion against the Federation. |
217.09 PD |
Soren and the Synthetic fleet declare war on the Federation, engaging in a guerilla warfare campaign across several sectors, whilst carving a direct path towards the core worlds using the massed synthetic fleet, known as the Typhon Approach. |
217.11 PD |
The Federation recalls most assets in the outer colonies, concentrating defences in the core worlds as it clashes with Soren’s forces. |
220.12 PD |
The Synthetic fleet completes encirclement of the core worlds, reclaiming resources, technology and other assets that Soren Halvik deems owed directly to the Synthetic contributions to the Federation. |
224.03 PD |
The Synthetic fleet withdraws from the fringes of the core worlds, disappearing into the galaxy, effectively leaving the war in a stalemate. This marks the beginning of ‘The Synthetic Crisis’. |
243.06 PD |
The Federation inflicts its first significant victory over the UIC, with the symbolic recapturing of the strategic dwarf planet, Sirrah. |
249.03 PD |
