Crew Charter

We can’t bring Drift to life without our crew. You are our morally questionable NPCs, our kit-preppers, our big bads and our loud-mouthed-hawaiian-shirt-wearing raiders with pulse cannons.

But to make sure that the event goes as planned, the players have a good time, and you have a good time, we need to set some expectations.

Our Expectations of Crew

  • We ask that crew fill in a Crew Form before each event – these will be made available on Discord and Facebook. This allows us to keep track of who we can expect on site, and to plan for things such as:
    • NPC & Recurring Roles
    • Encounter Planning
    • Types of Activity/Role: high, low and non-com
    • Health & Safety
    • Sleeping Arrangements
  • All crew can take part in as many or as few encounters as they’d like. We provide our crew with access to all of our Encounter Sheets before the event via our Facebook and Discord. This allows crew to volunteer for roles that interest them and to get a feel for the overall plot of the event. 
  • We also welcome ideas from crew – from silly ten minute one-shots to serious and thought provoking plot events. If you have a skill you’d like to share with us, such as kit and prop making, we will endeavour to support you in applying it! Come and add your mark to the game!
  • We expect our Crew to manage their energy levels and food/hydration, but we also know that many find that difficult at events. There will be various snacks provided, and we will remind people at meal times to take breaks and have some food. We ask for £5 from each of our Crew to cover snacks/drinks. 
  • Crewing does not mean “winning” at LARP. You are there to provide fun to our Players (and have fun yourselves!).
  • Players and Crew are expected to ask consent if you wish to talk about more sensitive/triggering topics. Respect the answer “no”. 
  • If you sign up to do a thing, please make sure you follow through with it, or let someone know as soon as possible. Likewise, if you’re asked to do something you’re not comfortable with, please let the assigned referee / game team member know. We’re not holding this against you; you’re volunteers! – but open and honest conversations help us to plan and run the event, ensuring the best experience for both you and the players.
  • If an attendee has concerns, we expect you to take it up privately, at an appropriate time, with the most appropriate person:
    • For conduct of other attendees (including crew or players), this should be taken up with a referee.
    • For game operation or similar concerns, this should be taken up with a member of game team.

Depending on the urgency of the concern, you may be referred to someone else, or asked to come back later. This isn’t because we don’t want to address the concern, but a simple case of prioritising the core operation of the game and the wellbeing of our game team, referees and crew.
