Player vs Player Interactions
Player Versus Player (or PvP) interactions are not prohibited at Drift, but are generally discouraged.
For the purpose of these rules, PvP interactions include (but are not limited to):
- Assassination / Murder
- Theft of IC Items
- Kidnapping
- Threats to Life
Players engaging in PvP actions must be aware of the following in the Player Charter:
Drift is intended to be a “collaborative” system. Player characters will face shared predicaments and will need to work together to ensure their survival – although may have differing goals, methods or views. Whilst player-versus-player behaviours and actions are not encouraged, they are not expressly forbidden. However, gameplay that is deliberately or unnecessarily destructive to other player experiences will be considered as against the player charter, and managed accordingly.
Assassination / Murder
Players engaging in Assassination or Murder of another Player Character should inform a referee prior to undertaking, to ensure player well being and proper management of any OC spillover. This will be handled in confidence, and discreetly to protect the IC nature of this.
If this is explicitly not possible (due to emergent circumstances), a Referee must be informed ASAP after the occurence.
Theft of IC Items
Theft of IC items is permitted. They are considered under two scenarios:
- Premeditated and planned
- Opportunistic
Before conducting premediated thefts, players should inform a referee of their intent to-do-so, in order to ensure the theft is managed correctly. As with the above, these will be handled in confidence and discreetly.
Opportunistic thefts should be informed to a referee as soon as possible after undertaking.
In either circumstance, players must not search through other players belongings, bags or sleeping areas unless they are obviously exclusively IC (eg. a crate or storage area in a communal space). If in any doubt, please consult a referee.
When stealing an Item that is attached to a phys-rep, the phys-rep (and Item lammie) shall be taken to a referee to ratify the theft, and ensure return of the phys-rep to the previous bearer of the item. Note that stolen items are likely still to be recognisable – particularly if they are rare or expensive items!
