Leviathan

Arguably the most expansive corporation, Leviathan is the jack of all trades. They manufacture everything from war ships down to the hinge in personal med packs and they are known for their ability to pump equipment out in all shapes and sizes. However, due to the fact they’re not massively specialised they struggle against more selective companies, save for where Leviathan’s long-range ship capabilities remain unmatched.

Leviathan is founded on the principle of quantity over quality and is considered a volume producer. However quantity does not mean quality, as many have found out the hard way.

Leviathan is based on 3 stardocks (Betral 1, Silas 3 & Opern 4) surrounding the mining planet Tunres 14. The Tunres system has widely been avoided by other colonists as almost every other planet in the system has been sapped dry by Leviathan for resource farming.

Leviathan came to fruition during a convenient tungsten shortage throughout the trade routes that their CEO will claim they absolutely did not cause. This shortage left most manufacturing companies faced with huge delays in production leaving gaps in the market that needed filling, namely in ship production and weapons systems. One of the first products that earnt Leviathan their status as a household name was the Aperture 2, the third most common civilian ship in the galaxy. The Aperture 2 is a large rugged looking ship most used for cargo and inter-planet travel. Whilst not known for its looks, it will get passengers from A to B… most of the time.

Their leading advancements are as follows:

Artificial Mineral Manufacturing

To give Leviathan credit where it is due, they found a way to reliably “grow” metals and other minerals that are constantly in demand. Putting quality control issues aside, Leviathan are known for reliably sourcing rare minerals for use in advanced technologies. Their CEO also swears that they have nothing to do with the disappearance of a journalist who was investigating one of their supply routes.

Cyclops Capital Ship

These hulking behemoths were created as a failsafe due to the mineral farming in the Tunres system sucking the planets dry and causing irreparable damage. The leaders of the planets in the system put pressure on Leviathan to provide a habitable environment for their citizens, so Leviathan manufactured a pilotable biohabitat ship for those who lived on these planets to leave before there were mass casualties. Several Cyclopses have been retrofitted to become battlebarges and other military vessels due to their size and carrying capacity.

Interstellar Space Holidays

In part due to their subsidiary capabilities in deep space exploration and long-distance logistics, Leviathan were the first to offer cheap(er) space holidays to the individual consumer. Their Drift Space Holiday Packages have seen commercial success and are credited with facilitating a boom in the space tourism industry.

Subsidiary – Zheng Space Exploration

Zheng Space Exploration, named after the famed explorer Zheng He, is the Federation’s premier deep-space exploration and colonial development corporation. Specializing in the survey of newly identified interstellar bodies, Zheng focuses on long-range reconnaissance, scientific research, and the careful establishment of sustainable frontier outposts. Its mission emphasizes expansion through knowledge rather than conquest, positioning the corporation as the spearhead of peaceful Federation growth.

Zheng’s fleet consists of highly advanced long-range vessels designed for years of independent operation beyond established space. Equipped with cutting-edge sensor arrays, exobiological laboratories, and autonomous infrastructure systems, these ships rival the cost of battlecruisers due to the sheer concentration of research and survival technology they carry. Crewed by elite scientists, engineers, and specialists, Zheng expeditions operate at the edge of the known galaxy, transforming distant discoveries into the foundation of future Federation presence.

Subsidiary – Nova Logistics Corp

Nova Logistics Corp (NLC) is Leviathan’s logistics and shipping arm, responsible for transporting the corporation’s vast output across established interstellar trade routes. Moving everything from industrial machinery to bulk commodities and prefabricated infrastructure, NLC maintains a sprawling freight network that connects core Federation systems with frontier markets and even select external territories. Its presence is constant, if rarely glamorous.

NLC vessels are famously large and slow, built for endurance and capacity rather than speed. Reflecting Leviathan’s emphasis on scale over refinement, their ships prioritize reinforced hulls, modular cargo bays, and redundant systems designed to survive long-haul transit. Despite Leviathan’s broader reputation for quantity over quality, NLC freighters remain a preferred choice for many traders both inside and outside the Federation. They may not be elegant, and they may not be fast , but NLC shipments arrive intact. Mostly.
